Ms. Dunsmore

1st GRADE
Dear First Grade Parents,
I look forward to having your children this year in first grade. I thought that you might find it helpful to have a supply list to fill over the summer, before September is upon us. Enjoy the summer with your little one!
Fondly,
Mrs. Marybeth Dunsmore

** either an eraser, a sock or a wash cloth to use on dry erase boards which I provide for the children

Optional - If you have extra construction paper, it would be greatly appreciated!

Supplies which are purchased at school are:
2 homework copybooks
1 theme tablet
1 journal
I do not have the exact prices fr next year, but $6.50 should cover the costs. I will let you know the first week of school. Thank you!

1 mini DVD which will be used to film your child at the end of first grade. This mini DVD will travel with him/her throughout their years at Epiphany and will be given to you when they complete eighth grade. Please label the front of the mini DVD. Thank you!

Special Message(s)

The cost of pretzels is either $.15 or $.25. If your child will be purchasing lunch at school, please send in a snack every day or provide money for a pretzel.

Every child is given a behavior journal which works upon the concept of positive reinforcement. When a child is following the first grade rules(such as being a good friend, being kind to others and being polite and respectful), he/she will be rewarded with a stamp in his/her journal. For every 10 stamps, your child will receive a positive message from me and will get to go to the treasure box and select a prize. The children this year really loved their stamp books and it worked out quite well.

If a child does not get on board with the positive approach, I will brainstorm with the parents to find a more effective way to convey the expectations for first grade. Hopefully, this will not be necessary.

This summer, I plan to write a little script for the play, "The Littlest Angel". Every child will be an angel. So, if you happen to come across an angel costume over the summer, you might want to pick it up.

PLEASE LABEL ALL SUPPLIES!

Your child will not be required to have his/her books covered in clear contact paper in first grade. The soft back books are disposable and I will send home your child's work home each week. It is one less thing for you to have to do during the very busy beginning of school.
