Our caterpillars are getting very big. They are eating and eating and eating and we are watching and watching and watching. We are learning all about metamorphosis.
In math we started addition. We are doing a great job adding concrete things like people, cubes, and feet.
In Religion, we are learning about being kind to others and to ourselves. We also listened to the story "David and Goliath" and "Joseph and His Brothers."
We are writing our letters and numbers in proper form. If your child writes something incorrectly (backwards or messy), please correct his or her work. It is important that they know the appropriate way to form their letters and numbers; therefore, in first grade they can spend the time learning other things.
In phonics, we are still studying word families like “ug,” “at,” and “et.” We are also studying the digraphs “sh,” “ch,” and “th.” We are also manipulating the initial and final sounds of words. We played a few games to help us practice called "You're Out," "Mr. Smart's Smart Idea," and " Roll Away a Sound."
Reminders:
Friday-Mother's Day Tea-8:30AM--Class Trip to Linvilla Orchard--9:15. There is a reminder letter enclosed.
*The office asked if each child could bring in an extra pair of underwear. There have been many accidents lately. Due to the nice weather, they are interested in playing until the very last minute. Please know they have many opportunities during the day to visit the bathroom.
Please do not forget to return your library books.
